About Alysha Punnett, RCC

I’m Alysha Punnett, a Registered Clinical Counsellor offering counselling in Penticton and online throughout BC. I work with adults who are feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, self-critical, or stuck in patterns they can’t quite shift on their own. Many of my clients are used to holding a lot together on the outside while internally navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma responses, relationship stress, ADHD, grief, or hormonal changes.

I’ve always been interested in the complexity of being human - how the interplay among our biology, relationship histories, and the systems and structures we live in influences how we relate to ourselves, others and the world around us in the present. My own experiences with anxiety and PMDD inform the care I bring to this work, especially for clients whose hormonal mental health concerns have been minimized or misunderstood.

My approach is biopsychosocial, neuroscience-informed, and relational

Biopsychosocial

My work is grounded in a biopsychosocial approach. This means I look at the whole picture of your well-being — your body and physical health, your emotions and thought patterns, and the social and cultural influences in your life.

Neuroscience-Informed

Neuroscience-informed counselling helps us understand how the brain and nervous system shape our thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and relationships. This approach can be especially helpful for trauma, anxiety, burnout, ADHD, and emotional regulation, offering practical ways to build insight, self-understanding, and steadiness.

Relational

A "relational" perspective understands that our struggles and strengths develop within the context of relationships—past and present. This approach focuses on how patterns of connection, attachment, and communication shape our relationship to ourselves, others and the world around us, including the therapeutic relationship itself.

You can expect counselling to feel collaborative, thoughtful, and practical.

You will always know more about you than I do, but it can be next to impossible to get perspective on ourselves at times. This is where working with a counsellor can help - you bring your lived experience, needs, values, and goals while I bring training, knowledge, and skills that can help us understand what is happening and what might support change.

I am warm, attuned, and engaged. I will listen closely, reflect honestly, and gently challenge patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Some sessions may focus on immediate coping and regulation. Others may go deeper into past experiences, relational dynamics, or long-standing patterns.

My hope is that therapy helps you feel more steady, more connected, and more able to respond to your life with clarity and agency.

The values I bring into the counselling room

Icon-3-Moon.png

Collaboration

Therapy works best when it feels like something we are doing together. Our work will be shaped by what feels meaningful, realistic, and important to you.

Icon-5-Moon.png

Attunement

I pay close attention to what is said, what is felt, and what may be happening underneath the surface. Feeling deeply listened to and seen for who you are is transformative for many.

Honesty

I value warmth and care, but I also value realness. I offer honest reflections, thoughtful questions, and practical support when I notice something that may be worth exploring.

Safety

Safety is the foundation for honest, meaningful therapy. I work to create a space where you can show up as you are, feel respected in your vulnerability, and move at a pace that feels manageable.
