Accessibility Statement

Alysha Punnett Counselling Services is committed to providing services in a manner that respects the dignity, independence, and inclusion of all individuals. I strive to reduce barriers to access in accordance with applicable British Columbia and Canadian laws, including the Accessible British Columbia Act, the Canadian Human Rights Act, and the ethical standards of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).

Accessibility is an ongoing process. I am committed to identifying, removing, and preventing barriers to participation wherever reasonably possible.

1. Commitment to Non-Discrimination

Services are provided without discrimination based on disability, race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, age, marital status, family status, or any other protected ground under applicable human rights legislation.

2. Accessible Communication

I aim to communicate in ways that are clear, respectful, and responsive to individual needs. Upon request and where reasonably possible, I will:

  • Provide information in alternative formats

  • Adjust communication style or pace

  • Use caption-enabled video platforms where available

  • Work collaboratively to support comprehension and participation

If you require accommodations to communicate effectively, please let me know.

3. Physical Accessibility

If services are offered in person, I will provide clear information about:

  • Office location and directions

  • Building access (e.g., stairs, elevators, parking)

  • Any known physical barriers

If the office space presents accessibility challenges, I will make reasonable efforts to explore alternative arrangements, such as virtual sessions or alternative meeting locations, where appropriate.

4. Online Accessibility

My website is designed with attention to clarity, readability, and usability. I aim to follow recognized web accessibility best practices, including plain language, readable font sizing, and logical page structure.

If you experience difficulty accessing any part of the website, please contact me so that I can provide the information in an alternative format and address the concern.

5. Service Animals and Support Persons

Service animals and support persons are welcome in counselling sessions, where applicable and appropriate to the therapeutic setting.

6. Accommodation Process

Accommodation requests are handled respectfully and individually. I will work collaboratively with clients to determine reasonable accommodations that support participation while maintaining professional and ethical standards.

Some accommodations may be limited by factors such as safety, clinical appropriateness, or building restrictions; however, every effort will be made to explore suitable alternatives.

7. Feedback and Ongoing Improvement

Feedback about accessibility is welcome and encouraged. If you encounter barriers to access or have suggestions for improvement, please contact:
